Los Angeles: Today’s action by the City Council to approve the competitive multi-year contract for our rank and file personnel is another critical step in attracting and retaining highly qualified personnel.

The Los Angeles Police Department is at a critical juncture with staffing levels at historic lows. The Mayor’s leadership, working with the City Administrative Officer and the support of the majority of the City Council, demonstrated extraordinary steps to achieve needed hiring as well as retaining our existing personnel that continue to be sought out by other agencies.

The passage of the well-deserved contract by the majority of the City Council, coupled with the many voices from various business and residential community members, demonstrates the collective support of our personnel and the tireless work they do to protect and to serve every day.
