Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Chief William J. Bratton redeployed four Commanders to new assignments. Because of the City’s current financial situation and the Police Department’s inability to promote new Commanders due to a hiring and promotion freeze. Chief Bratton has made the following strategic moves to fill critically needed vacancies.
The following Commanders will begin their new assignments effective December 7, 2003:
Commander James Tatreau will transfer from 77th Street Police Station to be the Assistant Commanding Officer of Operations-South Bureau.
Commander Richard Roupoli will transfer from Operations-South Bureau to Special Operations Bureau. Commander Roupoli has extensive experience working with specialized divisions, having been the Commanding Officer of Metropolitan Division.
Commander Paul Kim brings his talents to bear on an ongoing and critical need to maintain the Los Angeles Police Department’ s reputation as the most innovative and professional law enforcement agency in the country. Commander Kim will be transferred from Operations-West Bureau to assume command of the Department’s Training Group. Training Group is responsible for providing cutting edge training and education to Department personnel.
Commander George Ibarra will transfer from Wilshire Area Police Station to Operations-West Bureau where he will be the Assistant Commanding Officer of the Bureau. Commander Ibarra will draw on his experience from his prior commands to help lead Operations-West Bureau.
