Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department has identified its first confirmed case of COVID-19 involving one of its employees. A uniformed supervisor assigned to our Pacific Division exhibited flu-like symptoms around March 5th. He went home and sought medical treatment including being tested for COVD-19. Those results returned positive today.
The supervisor’s condition is already improving and he is expected to make a full recovery. Thorough cleaning and disinfecting of the involved employee’s work area at the Pacific Division should be completed by the end of the day.
At this point no other personnel from Pacific Division have experienced symptoms or been isolated. The Department will continue to monitor the health of our workforce and workspaces in our facilities, and we will act swiftly should anyone exhibit symptoms of the virus.
