Los Angeles: On September 10, 2023, at around 12:00 p.m., the body of 32-year-old Nichole Coats, was discovered inside her apartment, located at the 700 block of South Grand Avenue. This incident is being handled as a Death Investigation. It is an ongoing investigation and no further information is available.
On September 12, 2023, at around 3:54 p.m., the body of 31-year-old Maleesa Mooney, was discovered inside her apartment, located at the 200 block of South Figueroa Street. Since their discovery, Los Angeles Police Department, Central Bureau Homicide, has been investigating the deaths of both Ms. Coats and Ms. Mooney. Detectives have been working closely with members of the Los Angeles County, Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner, as to the cause of death of both women.
Since both cases remain active investigations, details about either case will not be released; however, based on the investigations thus far, there is no evidence to suggest that the deaths of Ms. Coats and Ms. Mooney are related to one another.
