Los Angeles: On May 26, 2022, at approximately 2:15 p.m., Police Officer II Houston Ryan Tipping, Serial No. 43382, was involved in a training accident. Officer Tipping passed away days later as a result of his injuries. In the immediate aftermath of this event, and at the direction of the Chief of Police, the Office of Constitutional Policing and Policy (OCPP) conducted the inquiry which is attached to this news release.
The report was discussed and reviewed at the Board of Police Commission Meeting held, today, October 4, 2022, and has been anonymized and summarized for public release.
