Los Angeles: On January 3, 2002, at approximately 12:50 p.m., a felony hit and run, auto vs. pedestrian traffic collision occurred at the intersection of Vernon Avenue and 6th Avenue. The victim, a 16 year-old boy, was severely injured after being struck by a silver or gray compact vehicle. The victim was crossing Vernon Avenue when he was struck.
After the collision, the suspect’s vehicle continued westbound on Vernon Avenue, leaving the victim lying in the roadway failing to stop and identify herself, render aid, or call for medical assistance. Witnesses to the collision described the hit and run suspect as a female Black, no further description. Witnesses were unable to obtain the license plate number of the hit and run vehicle.
Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to Cedar Sinai Hospital for emergency medical treatment. The victim sustained major head and body trauma and is currently listed in critical condition.
