Los Angeles: On Thursday, November 23, 2003, at about 8:50 p.m., Northeast Police Officers responded to a radio call of an, "Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Shots Fired" call in the area of the 400 block of W. Avenue 37. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located two victims on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds.
Los Angeles City Fire Department paramedics responded and transported both victims to a local hospital. The victim, Cesar Guzman, failed to respond to the emergency medical treatment and died upon arrival. The second victim, a male Hispanic, was treated for multiple gunshot wounds and is listed in critical condition.
The motive for the shooting and the suspect(s) identity are unknown at this time.
