Boyle Heights: On October 4, 2001 at approximately 5:00 p.m., Hollenbeck area patrol officers responded to the 3700 block of Union Pacific Avenue in Hollenbeck Area, to investigate the death of an abandoned baby.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the body of a baby had been abandoned and set on fire. A worker at a nearby business noticed a foul odor coming from the area and called the police.
The baby was burned beyond recognition. The sex and race of the baby is unknown at this time.
Detectives from Juvenile Division, Abused Child Unit assumed the investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to call Detective’s Ruedas or Stanford at the Abused Child Unit, 213-485-4220.
