On Sunday, November 12, 2017, at 12:15 a.m., the victim hailed what she believed to be a yellow taxi after leaving a bar near the area of Vermont Avenue and Pico Boulevard. Once inside the vehicle, the victim told the driver (Pimentel) to take her to her residence. Instead, Pimentel drove her to Flower Street south of 84th Place and parked his vehicle. Pimentel forcefully sexually assaulted the victim. The victim managed to escape and requested help from a nearby citizen who contacted the police. Officers responded and Pimentel was taken into custody. Pimentel told officers he works as a bandit taxi driver. He drives a faded 2007 Toyota Prius Yellow Cab.
Detectives have provided Jose Pimentel’s photograph in case there are additional victims of unreported incidents.
