Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department detectives are asking the public’s help in finding a person of interest, Kimberly Carter. She is the girlfriend of a 42-year-old man who was found dead yesterday, March 7, 2006, in Carter’s Northridge home, 11200 Block of Garden Grove Avenue.
A little after 7 PM, Carter’s mother called police to report she had found her daughter’s boyfriend stabbed to death in the house. Carter, her mother, and the man lived in the house together for several years. Last weekend, Carter kicked the mother out of the house. When the mother returned on Tuesday evening, Carter was gone and Carter’s boyfriend was dead. Detectives believe the victim died sometime on Monday.
“We have not directly connected Carter to the stabbing, but we’d like to speak to her,” said Devonshire Detective Joel Price. “We think she could be going to Las Vegas or Henderson, Nevada, where she has property.”
Carter may be driving a black Chevrolet Tahoe, with California license 5JFX220. She is 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. Her DMV photograph shows her with blue eyes, but she may be wearing colored contact lenses. Carter is on federal probation for a bank robbery committed in Detroit, Michigan.
Carter has spoken to her brother by telephone since the discovery yesterday. She sounded to him to be distraught or suicidal.
Anyone with information is asked to call LAPD Devonshire Homicide Unit at 818-832-0537. On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free number at 1-877-LAWFULL (529-3855).
