Los Angeles: On March 28, 2003, at approximately 7:00 p.m., a hit and run traffic collision occurred on St. Andrews Place just south of 9th Street. Jong Ye Bang, a 72 year-old resident of Los Angeles was struck by a car as she was walking across the intersection. The driver of the car stopped briefly, but made no attempt to render aid to the victim or identify himself to the victim.
A witness described the driver as a male Hispanic, 35 to 40 years old. The vehicle involved in the hit and run is described as an older model compact, 4 door, square looking vehicle, possibly a Toyota. The passenger side of the vehicle is red and the driver side is violet in color. The back left side of the vehicle is violet and red on the right half of the trunk area. To the right of the rear license plate is a silver star shaped like a heraldic cross called a "Formee." There is a red heart hanging from the rear view mirror.
West Traffic Division Detectives are conducting the hit and run investigation.
