Wilmington: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Harbor Area Homicide detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect(s) responsible for the drive-by shooting death of 31-year-old Monica Nicole Ruiz.
On August 31, 2017, around 9:50 p.m., Ms. Ruiz was standing in front of an apartment complex in the 300 block of D Street in the city of Wilmington. A vehicle with unknown suspect(s) drove by and fired multiple rounds in the victim’s direction, striking her and causing her to fall to the ground.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and transported Ms. Ruiz to a local hospital where she later died of her injuries. There was an additional victim shot during the incident. That victim was treated at a local hospital and listed in stable condition.
Detectives have no leads on the vehicle description or suspect(s) and are asking for the public’s help.
