"Drive By Shooting Leaves One Dead; One In Stable Condition"
 
Los Angeles: On Friday, November 1, 2002, at approximately 10:22 p.m., Foothill Area uniformed officers responded to a report of shots being fired in the 15000 block of Paddock Street. Upon arrival at the scene, officers observed two victims of gunshot wounds in a residential driveway. Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded to the location and administered emergency first aid. The victims were transported to Providence Holy Cross Hospital.
Mr. Raymond Carlos, a twenty-one year-old resident of Sylmar, failed to respond to treatment and died as a result of his injuries. The second victim, a twenty-nine year-old resident of Sylmar was admitted and is listed in stable condition.
Foothill homicide detectives responded to the scene and assumed investigative responsibility. Preliminary investigation and initial witness interviews revealed the victims were standing near a residential driveway when a vehicle with unidentified suspects drove by. Several shots were fired from the vehicle, striking the victims. The suspect(s) left the scene in a vehicle described only as a 90’s Honda or Lexus type vehicle with four doors. The vehicle was possibly light or gray in color. The crime appears to be gang-related.
