Los Angeles: LAPD Hollenbeck Homicide detectives are investigating the apparent gang-related shooting death of 22-year-old Daniel Castro of Los Angeles.
On Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at around. 12:25 p.m., Castro was driving along North Broadway at Johnston Street with a female passenger when unknown suspect(s) opened fire on them from a pursuing car. Castro was struck after the bullets penetrated his rear windshield. The passenger, who was not harmed, took control of the car and sought help for the victim. The motive for the shooting is unknown and there is no description of the suspect car.
The victim was taken to a local hospital by private car where he received emergency medical treatment. Castro sustained major trauma and was placed on life support until May 5, 2011 when he died.
