Los Angeles: A man is under arrest for murder after the vehicle he was driving crashed, killing one of his passengers.
On Sunday, January 16, 2011, about 20 minutes after midnight, Whittier resident, Peter Ryan Barragan, 25 years of age, was speeding westbound on Valley Boulevard, in a 2007 Saturn Aura. As Barragan came to a curve in the road he lost control of his vehicle, went off the roadway, and collided with several fixed objects.
Paramount resident, Alicia Leon, 21 years of age, was one of three passengers in Barragan’s vehicle. She received severe blunt force trauma injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead at scene.
The two other passengers were taken to a local hospital and treated for moderate injuries. They are expected to survive.
Barragan was later found to be under the influence of an intoxicant and arrested for Murder. He was booked into LAPD Jail Division after being treated for minor injuries at a local hospital. He is being held on $1 million dollars bail.
