WHERE:
Florence Avenue between Broadway and Main Street

South Traffic Division Officers
WHY:
Despite the tireless efforts of thousands of advocates and law enforcement officers alike. Drunk driving continues to be one of America’s deadliest crimes. The purpose of the sobriety checkpoint is to reduce the number of injuries, deaths, hit-and-run traffic accidents, and property damage associated with the intoxicated driver. The Los Angeles Police Department seeks to achieve these goals through enforcement and public awareness.
These DUI saturation patrols are being deployed in response to an increase in DUI related traffic accidents in the Newton geographic area of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Funding for these DUI saturation patrols comes from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration. We can all help make our streets safer.
