Los Angeles: On Wednesday, December 11, 2000, at approximately 5:00 a.m., the Los Angeles Police Department’s Operations Valley Bureau, Special Enforcement Unit, joined with members of Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, The Department of Corrections, The Los Angeles County Probation Department, and The Federal Bureau of Alcohol Tabacco and Firearms launched an operation against gangs.
The operation consists of parole/probation compliance searches of known San Fernando Valley gang members who reside in the Antelope Valley. Approximately fifty officers from the various agencies were involved, targeting twenty-four locations.
Over the course of the operation, seven individuals were taken into custody for various offences ranging from Possession of Narcotics for Sales, Receiving Stolen Property, to violations of the terms and conditions of parole or probation. Additionally, gang intelligence was gathered to assist the Department in solving other gang crimes.
This is the first in a series of such operations planned in the coming month targeting gang members committing crimes in the San Fernando Valley.
