"Ex-Boyfriend Shoots Girlfriend, Then Self"
Los Angeles: On Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at approximately 6:00 p.m., the victim, Brenda Mahoney, a 31 year-old female, White, was sitting in the driver’s seat of her vehicle which was parked in front of her residence in the 3000 block of Dennison Avenue, San Pedro. The suspect, Marcelo Lagrasta, a 38 year-old male, Hispanic and ex-boyfriend of the victim, approached the passenger’s side of the victim’s vehicle and fired numerous rounds at the victim, mortally wounding her.
The suspect fled the scene, left a suicide note at his residence, then went to, Point Fermin Park, located at Shepard Street and Gaffey Street. The suspect walked down a path near the cliffs and shot himself in the head. The suspect was located by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Air Unit. The suspect was transported to a local hospital where he is on a life support system.
