Fatal Hit and Run Traffic Collision NR19175ml

77th Division: The Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division detectives are investigating a fatal hit and run traffic collision that occurred at Manchester Avenue and Cimarron Street.

On Monday, June 10, 2019, around 9:30 p.m., a severe hit and run traffic collision occurred on Manchester Avenue at Cimarron Street. A light (possible silver) Jeep Commander was traveling westbound Manchester Avenue, approaching Cimarron Street when it collided with a pedestrian, who was walking northbound across Manchester Avenue, in an unmarked crosswalk. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and render aid, identify him/herself as required by law.

Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and transported 59-year old Pamela Smith, to a local hospital, where she later died due to her injuries.

Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should stop, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
