Fatal Hit and Run Traffic Collision NR19298ml

Van Nuys: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division detectives are investigating a felony hit and run fatality that occurred on Sepulveda Boulevard south of Hatteras Street.

On Friday, November 1, 2019, around 10:00 p.m., a fatal hit and run traffic collision occurred when a white Infiniti G37 was travelling at a high rate of speed northbound on Sepulveda Boulevard, collided with a pedestrian south of Hatteras Street.

The pedestrian was crossing eastbound Sepulveda Boulevard after exiting his vehicle that was parked on the west curb of Sepulveda Boulevard when he was hit by the Infinity.

The driver of the white Infiniti failed to stop, identify self and render aid, as required by law. Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the pedestrian dead. He was a male, Hispanic, approximately 22 years old.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $25,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
