Fatal Hit and Run with Pedestrian NR16060aj

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department Central Traffic detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that would lead to the identification and arrest of the suspect involved in a fatal hit and run collision, which left a 59-yr-old man dead.

On February 20, 2016, around 7:10 p.m., a pedestrian was crossing westbound San Pedro Street when a vehicle travelling eastbound on Boyd Street turned left to northbound San Pedro Street and collided with the pedestrian. The motorist failed to stop and render aid or identify himself as required by law.

The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the pedestrian to a local area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The identity of the pedestrian is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The suspect vehicle is described as a dark blue or black Ford Expedition or Chevrolet Suburban with large chrome wheels.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
