Fatal Shooting on MTA Platform NR24178dc

On July 10, 2024, South Bureau Homicide Detectives arrested a 16-year-old male subject and 20-year-old Los Angeles resident Oscar Martinez for the murder of Garcia. Martinez was booked for 187 (A) PC: Murder, booking number 6844333. His bail was set at $2,000,000.

On July 12, 2024, the District Attorney’s office reviewed the case and filed murder charges against the 16-year-old male. Charges of assault with a semi-automatic firearm were filed against Martinez for his involvement in the incident.

 

Los Angeles: On Friday, June 21, 2024, around 7:20 p.m., LAPD Southwest Area officers responded to a radio call of an Ambulance Shooting on the 5600 block of West Jefferson Boulevard at the La Cienega/Jefferson E-Line Platform. The victim was on the departing E-Line train when the suspect approached and shot the victim. The suspect then fled the location with several other males.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the victim deceased at scene. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 38-year-old Juan Garcia.

South Bureau Homicide Division is investigating this case and are requesting the public’s help. The investigation is ongoing.
