Monday, January 24, 2000
On Friday, January 21, 2000, at approximately 5:45 a.m., a fatal traffic collision occurred at the intersection of Pico Boulevard and Tremaine Avenue. A pedestrian, who was later identified as Mr. Jose Chaidez, 57 years of age, and a resident of Los Angeles, was crossing the roadway outside the crosswalk when he was struck by a passing vehicle which was being driven by Mrs. Marina Cledy Hernandez, 53 years of age, a resident of Los Angeles. Mr. Chaidez was transported by Los Angeles City Fire Department personnel to Cedars Sinai Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. There were no other injuries reported and the investigation is continuing. No arrests were made and West Traffic Division Follow- up Detectives are handling investigation.
