Los Angeles: South Traffic Division Detectives are investigating a fatal collision that claimed the life of an International Student from China who attended the University of Southern California.
On March 17, 2013 at 2:50 a.m., a motorist in a 1995 Ford Explorer was travelling west on Hyde Park Boulevard towards West Boulevard, failed to stop for a red tri-light and collided into a motorist and passenger in a 2012 Ford Mustang travelling north on West Boulevard. The impact of the collision caused the passenger in the Ford Mustang to sustain life threatening injuries. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. He was a Chinese International Student studying at University of Southern California. He was identified as Xinhai Huang, 22 years-of-age of China.
The motorist in the Ford Mustang was identified as Justin Wayne Rawls, 26 years-of-age of Los Angeles. He and Xinhai were close friends. His injuries were non-life threatening.
The motorist in the Ford Explorer was identified as Keysi Idania Cifuentes Lopez, 23 years-of-age of Los Angeles. She is currently hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries, pending criminal charges for Vehicular Manslaughter.
