Northridge: On February 9, 2019, around 1:00 A.M., a white 2002 Chevrolet Silverado was driving northbound on Lindley Avenue when it lost control just north of Chase Street. The vehicle struck a car parked along the east curb of Lindley Avenue north of Chase Street. The vehicle continued northbound then collided with a curb and a tree. The vehicle caught fire immediately after the collision. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.
The male driver of the vehicle died at the scene of the collision. A positive identification of the driver has not been made.
There have been no arrests as a result of the collision and the investigation is ongoing. Investigators are working to determine what factors lead to the collision, including the speed of the Silverado. We would like to remind the public to always drive at a safe speed for roadway conditions. With more rainfall anticipated, it is especially important to reduce speeds and ensure vehicles are properly maintained and tires have sufficient tread.
