Los Angeles: On May 22, 2003, at 12:06 p.m., Devonshire Area patrol officers responded to a report of unknown trouble at a private residence located at 17728 Halsted Street.
Upon arrival, the officers and paramedic personnel located the lifeless body of a male inside the residence. The decedent’s wife advised the officers a domestic dispute involving her husband and their adult son resulted in the demise of her husband. Neighbors advised the officers the suspect fled moments earlier in a pick-up truck.
A follow-up investigation revealed the suspect resides in an apartment in the 17800 block of Superior Street. Undercover officers were posted near the residence and in the vicinity. At approximately 2:00 p.m. the suspect was observed driving his vehicle on Zelzah Avenue. The officers followed the suspect to his residence and detained him without incident.
The preliminary investigation indicated the suspect was visiting his parents and an argument erupted between him and his father, which quickly escalated into a physical altercation. The suspect ultimately strangled his father, causing his death.
The victim has been identified as Gino Hamilton, who was 63 years old. The suspect has been identified as Anthony Hamilton, 31 years of age. He remains in custody at the Los Angeles County Twin Towers jail facility. The investigation is continuing relative to the circumstances that led to the deadly dispute. The case will be presented to the District Attorney’s Office for review on Tuesday, May 27th.
