Los Angeles: On August 18, 2004, at about 10:35 a.m., 56 year-old Kam Wai Chu was found dead in the alley rear to his business, a burger restaurant, in the 2900 block of West Vernon Avenue.
Responding officers’ investigation revealed Mr. Chu was involved in an argument with his adult son when his son pulled out a handgun and shot him. His son got into a white or light colored compact vehicle, driven by an unknown person, and drove away.
Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded and pronounced Mr. Chu dead at the scene from gunshot wounds.
The son’s name is Dennis Michael Moreno, also known as Dennis Chu, and was described as a male Hispanic/Asian with short black hair, brown eyes, 6’ 2", and 170 lbs.
