Van Nuys: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division detectives are investigating a felony hit and run that occurred at Sepulveda Boulevard and Covello Street.
On Saturday, April 20, 2019, around 10:00 p.m., a felony hit and run traffic collision occurred in the community of Van Nuys. The suspect, driving a possible older model white Cadillac Eldorado, negotiated a left turn from southbound Sepulveda Boulevard onto Covello Street and collided with a motorcycle, travelling northbound Sepulveda Boulevard. The motorcyclist was thrown from his motorcycle and collided with the roadway.
The driver of the Cadillac Eldorado failed to stop and render aid, and to identify himself to the motorcyclist as required by law. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the motorcyclist to a local hospital with severe injuries.
On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $25,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
