Why:
This first, of what is expected to be an annual event will celebrate the life, legacy and vision of civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr., and it will commemorate a transformative partnership between the Los Angeles Police and LA’s African American community.
Over the past six years, since Chief Bratton became chief, the LAPD has committed to restoring public confidence, building trust and respect between officers and the African American community.
The Department has pledged to partner with the community to reduce the fear and incidence of crime and to help guide the youth of Los Angeles toward a successful path.
Besides the breakfast and several speakers, an exclusive video will be shown that documents the traveled past and hopeful future of relations between the African American community and the LAPD.
