Los Angeles: On Tuesday, December 10, 2002, at 7:20 a.m., Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Sexually Exploited Child Unit and Officers from the Oxnard Police Department arrested former Catholic Priest, Father George Michael Miller, age 64, at his Oxnard home. The arrest took place without incident and Miller was booked on a Los Angeles arrest warrant, with bail set at $500,000.
The investigation into Miller began in May 2002, when an adult victim came forward to report that Miller sexually abused him when he was a child and an alter boy at the Guardian Angel Church in Pacoima where Miller was a priest.
In June 2002, a second adult victim came forward and reported that Miller sexually abused him as a child when he attended the Guardian of Angel Church. The crimes were alleged to have occurred between 1973 and 1986. Miller retired from the priesthood in 1996.
Judge William Pounders issued an arrest warrant for Miller charging one count of 288(a) PC, Lewd Act with a Child, one count 286(c), Sodomy with Child Under 14, and one count 288a PC, Oral Copulation.
Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Sexually Exploited Child Unit to date, have arrested five priest’s that were assigned to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
Officers assigned to the investigation believe there are additional victims who were molested by Miller when they were children.
