Los Angeles Police Detectives have been investigating the 1999 double-murder of brothers Rickey Nettles and Kevin Nettles and the 2001 murder of Dennis Henderson.
Cold Case Homicide Detectives linked Anthony Wayne Smith to the murders after a review of the case, along with re-interviewing several of the witnesses.
On July 2, 2012, detectives filed the three additional murders with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office in Antelope Valley. These cases were filed in conjunction with the 2008 Antelope Valley murder of Maurilio Ponce for which Smith was scheduled to be re-tried after a jury failed to reach a verdict in April of this year.
