Los Angeles: On December 19, 2004, at about 4:30 a.m., Southeast Area Patrol Officer Mary O’Callaghan, Serial No. 31186 assigned to unit 18U3, received a radio call to 11620 Town Avenue regarding a residential burglary investigation.
Officer O’Callaghan’s investigation revealed that unknown suspects forced entry into LeTrise Lowery’s locked and secured residence. The suspects took several items from underneath Lowery’s Christmas Tree, valued at approximately $1,050.00.
Lowery is a single parent and she is the mother of a three-year old son. She worked extremely hard all year to purchase the items (toys, stereo, and clothes) taken during the burglary.
Officer O’Callaghan orchestrated a collection within the Division to try and restore some of the items taken. After hearing about the incident, several Southeast Area officers willfully donated items and money to replace the loss experienced by the Lowery family. In addition to purchasing the gifts on December 22, 2004, Officer O’Callaghan and her partner Officer Geoghegan delivered groceries to the Lowery family.
On December 23, 2004 at 3:00 p.m., Southeast Patrol Captain James E. Craig, Sergeant Johnnie Jones, and Officer Mary O’Callaghan will present Ms Le Trise Lowery, with the charitable items to help alleviate the Lowery family distress.
Officer O’Callaghan is commended for her interest in restoring happiness and joy to the Lowery family. This is yet another fine display of the professional attitude displayed by the men and women at the Los Angeles Police Department Southeast Division, placing the interest of the community first.
