Los Angeles : As 15-year-old Deliesh Allen lay clinging to life at a local hospital, Los Angeles Police Department detectives from Southeast Police Station arrested 18-year-old Dejuan Hines, a former student of Locke High School, at the home of a family member.
The arrest came at 3:00 a.m., March 18, 2005, 12 hours after the shooting, which occurred at Locke High School, just as students were being let out. Detectives used anonymous tips and other undisclosed information to identify Hines. Two search warrants were served over night, all at the homes of Hines’ relatives. On a third follow-up search, Hines was arrested at another relative’s home. Two guns were seized by detectives, but it has not yet been determined if either of the guns were involved in the shooting.
Southeast detectives credited the community and Los Angeles Unified School police officers in helping detectives identify and locate Hines.
A photograph of Deliesh Allen will be made available through the Los Angeles School Police Department headquarters.
