Los Angeles: This afternoon at a news conference, Los Angeles Police Department, Robbery- Homicide detectives will provide some new information regarding the ongoing investigation of the well-known “Grim Sleeper” murder case.
Investigators are now focused on the final forty-eight females depicted in photographs seized from Lonnie Franklin’s residence in July, 2010. The original 180 photographs of unknown women put on display by LAPD Detectives in December 2010, have been reduced to this “Final Forty-Eight.” Unfortunately, as the photo grouping continues to be reduced, the likelihood that the women were victimized by Lonnie Franklin increases.
Lonnie Franklin Jr. was a member of the South Los Angeles Community his entire adult life and continues to be a focus of the Task Force investigation. The photographs made public since his arrest have also been members of the community. A flyer depicting the still unidentified women will also be handed out in an effort to encourage community participation in identifying the photographs. The flyer is available on the LAPD’s webpage at www.lapdonline.org .
Anyone with information is asked to call the Department’s Robbery Homicide detectives on a toll- free hotline, 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (877-527-3247). Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477).
