Los Angeles: The "Gun Safety in the Home" program is being sponsored by the Pacific Area Community Police Advisory Board of the Los Angeles Police Department, and will be held in the police station parking lot.

Included in this year’s program will be a gun buy back where $50.00 will be paid for all fully functional unloaded weapons. Participants wanting to sell their weapons are advised to leave the weapon in the car until a police escort retrieves the weapon to ensure safety.

We are also offering free trigger lock guards to make guns stored at home child safe. Additionally there will be safety demonstrations, disaster preparedness, and refreshments.
Guest speakers at this year’s event will include Los Angeles City Council members Ruth Galanter, Nate Holden, Cindy Miscikowski, and Dennis Zine. Ms. Kelly Williams from "The Practice" will also be present.
Last year’s event resulted in 69 firearms being turned in, including a fully automatic assault rifle. Two of the most common reasons cited for turning in these weapons were that the weapons were no longer wanted in the house or that the owners felt unsafe with the firearms, and of guns that had been found.
