Hit-and-Run Traffic Collision Kills Pedestrian NR25033kt

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division detectives are seeking the public’s help identifying the driver of a vehicle that struck and killed a pedestrian.

On Tuesday, January 7th, 2025, around 7:21 p.m., the victim was crossing in a marked crosswalk east on 53rd Street at Figueroa Street, when he was struck by a silver Porsche Cayenne that was traveling north on Figueroa Street. The driver of the vehicle continued driving and fled the scene, failing to stop and render aid or identify themselves as required by law.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the location and pronounced the victim deceased at scene. The victim has been identified as 40-year-old Jose Martinez.

Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
