Hollenbeck Categorical Use of Force – NRF048-21ne

On September 3, 2021 at around 3:09 p.m., Hollenbeck officers observed a suspect who was named on an Assault with a Deadly Weapon (ADW) domestic violence crime report which occurred the day prior. The suspect was ordered to exit his vehicle, but he refused. As a result, officers forcibly removed him from the vehicle. During the use of force, one officer contacted the suspect’s neck and throat area resulting in a Categorical Use of Force.
The suspect later refused medical treatment but did not complain of injury.
One officer sustained abrasions to his hand and another officer sustained abrasions to his knee.
Force Investigation Division (FID) responded to Hollenbeck station and are investigating the incident.
