Los Angeles: On Saturday, March 9, 2002, at approximately 11:25 p.m., 48 year-old Roberto Chamale and his son, were standing outside the entrance to an apartment building located on the 5400 block of Dobbs Street in Los Angeles. An unknown male Hispanic approached them on foot and asked them what gang they where from. Without further warning, the suspect pulled out an unknown caliber handgun and shot the victims numerous times before fleeing in an type vehicle.

Los Angeles Fire Rescue Ambulance No. 41 responded to the scene and provided the victims with emergency medical treatment. Roberto Chamale was subsequently transported to USC Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. The victim’s son was treated at the shooting scene for graze wounds and then released.
There is no additional information regarding the suspect, murder weapon or vehicle.
