Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department, the California Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles County Sheriffs’ Department have partnered in a Multi-Agency Cruiser Task Force beginning on Friday, May 9, 2003, and lasting throughout the summer months.
This will have a tremendous impact on traffic congestion and other illegal activity associated with cruising problems along Sunset and Hollywood Boulevard. Last year, the Multi-Agency Task Force Operation netted 6,000 citations, 200 impounded cars, and over 200 arrests. High visibility, enforcement and education will restore order during the seasonal nightclub atmosphere.
Over 50 officers will be dedicated to this task force operation, focusing on strict traffic enforcement by writing vehicle code violations, impounding cars and restoring a sense or order to Sunset Boulevard.
The briefing for all agencies will be held at the roll-call room at Hollywood Community Police Station, 1358 North Wilcox Avenue, on Friday, May 9, 2003, at 7:00 p.m. The briefing will be open to the media and a press conference will he held immediately following the briefing. Community leaders will also be invited to the briefing.
The Command Post for this event will be located at the Bank of America, 7800 West Sunset Boulevard. The Incident Commander for this event will be Captain Michael Downing, Commanding Officer of Hollywood Area. For additional information, contact Hollywood Area at 213-485-4301.
