Los Angeles: On May 21, 2002, a home-invasion robbery occurred in the Hancock Park area. Two male juveniles rang the victim’s doorbell and posed as candy solicitors. When the victim answered the door the suspects, armed with handguns, forced their entry and let two additional adult suspects inside the residence. All three occupants inside the house were bound, blindfolded, and assaulted while being robbed of their money, jewelry, and credit cards. After the robbery, the suspects fled in an unknown type sport-utility vehicle.
Robbery-Homicide Detectives conducting the investigation recovered forensic evidence at the scene of the crime, which ultimately led to the identification and arrest of one of the adult suspect, 20 year-old Jalon Carwell. Additional leads developed early in the investigation resulted in the identification and arrest of the 16, and 14 year-old juvenile suspects.
An arrest warrant was obtained for the fourth suspect, identified as 20 year-old Tyrus Green. Tyrus Green was located and arrested on June 27, 2002. Bail has been set in excess of one million dollars for each suspect.
Following the arrest of these suspects, the investigation revealed this group was also involved in a robbery of a Venice area business on May 20, 2002.
Councilman Tom LaBonge, LAPD Deputy Chief David Kalish, RHD Captain D. Tatreau, and the investigating detectives will be present at the press conference.
Booking photographs of the two adult suspects will be released at the press conference.
