Homicide as a Result of a Neighbor Dispute NR21192jc

Valley Glen: The Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) Valley Bureau Homicide detectives are seeking any additional information in the homicide of a North Hollywood resident.

On July 17, 2021, around 2:40 a.m., Officers from LAPD’s North Hollywood division responded to a call for a shooting in the 6800 block of Coldwater Canyon Avenue. Officers located a victim that had been shot numerous times. The suspect remained at scene and turned himself in to the officers that were present. Operations Valley Bureau responded and assumed investigative responsibility.

The investigation revealed that the victim lived in the apartment above the suspect and the shooting came after a heated neighbor dispute over loud music. The suspect confronted the victim about the loud music and demanded that the victim come downstairs. When the victim came downstairs, the suspect shot him multiple times. The victim died at scene.

The victim is identified as 35-year-old Eduard Avetisyan.

The suspect is identified as 66-year-old Onik Derhovansian and he was placed under arrest for Penal Code §187(a)(1) – Murder and booked under booking number 6216278.
