Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who robbed an ice cream store on May 1, 2006. The robbery was caught on surveillance tape.
The robbery occurred last Monday around 4:00 PM at the Baskin Robbins ice cream store in the 5600 block of San Vicente Boulevard.
The video shows that the robber walks into the store and waits his turn to order. Then he patiently waits for his order to be filled. As he hands the clerk money to pay for the ice cream, the suspect reaches into his back pocket and pulls out a small handgun. The clerk does not immediately realize what is happening.
The robber refuses the change, then tells the clerk, "Give me the money or I’ll kill you." The footage shows the clerk re-opening the cash register and removing more money. The gunman becomes impatient and reaches over the register to grab all the cash out of the drawer.
Neither the clerk, nor a mother with her children in the store, was injured in the robbery.
The suspect escaped with $398.00
The suspect is described as a male Black. He is about 6 feet tall, between 25 and 30 years old. He weighs about 200 pounds. The man is wearing dark pants, a white T-shirt, and a dark baseball cap with a white letter "W" on the front. He has tattoos on his right arm and neck.
