Innocent Life Taken by Gang Violence

 
Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Southwest Area Homicide Detectives are investigating the shooting incident, which led to the death of Jose G. Gonzalez, a 21 year-old male Hispanic who has no gang affiliations.
The incident occurred on January 12, 2003 at approximately 4:00 p.m., on the Martin Luther King Boulevard Freeway off ramp to the 110 Harbor Freeway, Los Angeles.
The victim was driving a vehicle southbound on the Harbor Freeway approaching the Martin Luther King Boulevard off ramp. The suspects were seen driving erratically through traffic and inadvertently drove past the victim’s vehicle. The suspects came to a stop at the Martin Luther King Boulevard off ramp and appeared to be waiting for the victim’s car to approach. As the victim’s vehicle was parallel to the suspects vehicle, the passenger suspect fired two rounds, striking the victim.
The suspects’ vehicle was last seen fleeing northbound on Figueroa Street from Martin Luther King Boulevard.
Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded and transported Gonzalez to a local Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The suspects are described as two male Hispanics, 17-25 years of age and 25-30 years of age with gang affiliation. The vehicle is described as a small, 4 door, compact vehicle, black in color.
