2009 Missing Person Investigation Leads to the Discovery of Human Remains
Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department Robbery Homicide Division is currently conducting an investigation into the 2009 disappearance of a 23-year-old female (at the time of her disappearance) from the Devonshire Area of Los Angeles.
Over the past several months investigators have developed investigative clues that led them to a property located on Hot Springs Road in the community of Sky Valley in Desert Hot Springs.
Investigators learned that the remains of an individual may have been buried at that property.
Robbery Homicide Division with the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Evidence Recovery Team and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department are currently in the process of excavating human remains located on that property.
At this stage in the investigation the Detectives are unable to determine if the remains are those of the missing female.
Due to extensive decomposition it will take several weeks to determine the identity of the remains.
The recovering of the humans remains is a slow and deliberate process designed to identify potential evidence and respect the dignity of the deceased.
Upon removal, the Los Angles County Coroners Office will begin the process of identify recovered human remains.
At this point in the investigation any further statements related to this case would be premature.
