What: Los Angeles Police Officers from Devonshire Division and LAPD Baseball Team members present new bicycles to two 7 year old students, Keyla Vigil and Angel Mecardo, who entered their “Just Say No” Pledges and were randomly selected amongst over 500 entrees.

Why: Every month LAPD Baseball Team randomly draw a name of a child that has taken the “Just Say No” pledge with their teacher, parent, or guardian, and has then written a short essay or the pledge verbatim back to the LAPD Baseball Team. LAPD has received over 500 entrees and more are coming in weekly. The officers will present Keyla and Angel each a brand new bicycle in front of their entire class, who have also taken the pledge and wrote letters. LAPD officer will talk to the kids about drugs, gangs, crime, and bullying, then all together they will have the 7 and 8 year old students recite the “Just Say No” pledge.
Pledge: Our Just Say No Pledge; “I pledge to say no to drugs.” “I pledge to say no to join a gang.” “I pledge to say no to crime.” “I pledge to say no to bullying.” “I will respect & honor my parents.” “I will respect & learn from my teachers.” “I will respect & be courteous to others.” “I will respect & believe in myself.”
