Juvenile Killed in Broad Daylight

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Hollenbeck Area homicide detectives are investigating the murder of a juvenile who was shot and killed during the day on a busy Los Angeles street.

On Wednesday, August 13, 2003, at about 3:30 p.m., 16 year-old Cesar Landeros was walking with two friends near the intersection of 2nd Street and Chicago Street. Suddenly, two vehicles, a white Toyota pickup truck and a gray Suzuki Samurai, pulled up. Several suspects got out of the vehicles and the driver of the Toyota fired several shots at Landeros.
Struck by a barrage of bullets, Landeros fell to the sidewalk mortally wounded, as the suspects escaped in their vehicles.
Los Angeles paramedics responded to the scene and Landeros was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m. The murder of Cesar Landeros is believed to be gang-related. No weapons have been recovered and no suspects are in custody.
