Opens https://lacity.gov/directory in a new window.Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect responsible in colliding with a pocket bike and fleeing the scene.
On February 23, 2025, around 2:00 a.m., a male juvenile-victim riding a pocket bike northbound San Pedro Street, north of 99th Street, was struck by a dark colored Toyota Corolla, traveling northbound San Pedro Street. The driver failed to stop and render aid after striking the rider.
The driver abandoned his vehicle at scene and fled on foot.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the collision scene and pronounced the juvenile-victim deceased.
The suspect is described as a male Hispanic possibly in his 20’s, heavy build. The vehicle was towed as evidence.
South Traffic detectives are urging anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward with any information regarding this felony hit-and-run.
Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.
On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
