As a special guest, present at the graduation will be Retired Deputy Chief Harold Sullivan. Chief Sullivan is the second oldest living LAPD retiree. Chief Sullivan was appointed to the Department on January 2, 1937, and retired on February 1, 1967. He currently lives in the City of Los Angeles.
During Chief of Police William H. Parker’s last year, Chief Sullivan was the Acting Chief of Police while Chief Parker was ill. After leaving the Department, he was appointed as the Commissioner for the California Highway Patrol, at that time under Governor Ronald Reagan.
