LAPD Graduation of 38 Police Officers, 6 Lateral Officers and 10 Reserve Officers

WHY:
Graduating officers have completed 912 hours of training over the course of 24 weeks. There are 35 males and 3 females in the graduating class. The ethnic breakdown of the class is 8 Caucasians, 18 Hispanics, 7 African Americans, 1 Chinese, 1 Japanese, 1 Korean and 2 Middle Easterners.
Two Los Angeles World Airport Officers, 1 General Services Department and 3 Los Angeles Port Police Officers will also be graduating.
There will also be 6 lateral officers graduating with the regular recruit class. These lateral officers, 4 males and 2 females, are experienced peace officers certified by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training. They have joined the LAPD after serving with another California law enforcement agencies and completing a two-month lateral officer academy. The ethnic breakdown is 1 Caucasians, 2 Hispanics, 1 African American, 1 Filipino and 1 Korean.
Ten Reserve Police Officers will also graduate. These Reserve Officers completed over 186 hours of training over the course of 16 weeks. There are 9 males and 1 female in the class. The ethnic breakdown of the class is 5 Caucasians, 2 Hispanics, 1 African American, 1 Chinese and 1 Japanese.
