Los Angeles: On November 12, 2002, the Los Angeles Police Department will collaborate with the resources of the California Highway Patrol to address the issue of speeding motorists on Pacific Coast highway (PCH).
Of all the leading causes of traffic collisions, speed is the most prevalent factor in vehicle collisions that injure and kill hundreds of Los Angeles residents every year. Traffic collisions, in which speed was determined to be the primary collision factor, are on the increase and have accounted for the majority of collisions resulting in fatalities and/or serious injuries.
It is the goal of the Los Angeles Police Department, and the California Highway Patrol, to curtail speeding on one of California’s most traveled highways, Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). By aggressively enforcing posted speed limits, the two agencies hope to bring a visual enforcement, and a public awareness to a serious public safety issue.
